GE Digital Twin Website

UX, Art Direction, Design

First Person and GE have partnered to bring GE’s digital transformation to life across multiple industries, and for customers all over the globe. As Part of the PREDIX platform, Digital Twins are an important part of that transformation.

The Goal

GE Approached First Person to help with the launch of their online Digital Twin hub. The idea of the hub is that customers can create Digital Twins—data models that run thousands of simulations of existing machine hardware and software to predict behavior—online. They needed a landing page to introduce the benefits of Digital Twins, and explain why choosing GE is important when deciding to create these data models.

The Result

We designed a landing page ready for customers both familiar and unfamiliar with Digital Twins. Our responsive, animated website showcases First Person’s beautiful artwork to explain what Digital twins are, and lead the audience to start creating their own Digital Twins online. The site also houses GE’s successful Digital Twin client case studies to inform people of the possibilities open to them when they connect all of their machines. The site is currently being tested by internal GE teams before release to a wider audience.

User Experience

Over the course of several brainstorming session with GE, we helped define the user experience goals for the launch of the hub. Though we didn’t take on the UI/UX work for uploading Digital Twin data models, we were able to help create scenarios of what the launch of the Digital Twin experience online could be. Once the MVP goals for launch was decided, we worked closely with the

client to define the goals of what the landing page should do to educate and entice the audience to upload their data. We created a site flow that focused on three key things users needed to know in order to start: What is a Digital Twin, GE’s Digital Twin capabilities, and what they need in order to get started on their own Digital Twin.

Design

We leveraged our years of previous work with GE to refine the messaging for the site. Though the initial launch of the site is for GE employees only, we designed with both them and external customers in mind. Over years First Person has developed a visual language around the Digital Twin concept and we applied that to the site, using existing and creating new illustrations to show how Digital Twins work.

With my experience with past GE projects, I personally lead Art Direction to make sure the website matched our ongoing work in both 3D and iconography. I also helped ensure the design could be successfully executed within our development timeframe and budget.
